DB has completed the sale of its logistics subsidiary DB Schenker to the Danish transport and logistics group DSV for an enterprise value of €14.3 billion.

The DB Group will retain all proceeds from the sale, which will significantly reduce its debt, explains Richard Lutz, Chairman of the Management Board of DB: "We have completed the largest corporate transaction in the history of Deutsche Bahn and the logistics industry. Over the next three years, we will turn around our infrastructure, our rail operations and our profitability."

DSV received the last remaining approvals for the acquisition of DB Schenker from the antitrust authorities in the European Union and the United States in recent weeks, confirms Jens Lund, CEO of DSV A/S: "With this acquisition, we will become a world-leading player in global transport and logistics at a time when global supply chains are more in focus than ever before."

DSV has also announced that, as the new owner, it will invest around €1 billion in Germany over the next three to five years.

Jochen Thewes, CEO of Schenker AG, says: "These days mark the end of the most successful era in Schenker's more than 150-year history. It is with great pride that we look back on our excellent performance over the past years with Deutsche Bahn as our owner. With DSV, we now have the opportunity to build the world's largest logistics group.

DB initiated the process to sell DB Schenker in December 2023. DSV was selected in the competitive sale process because its offer was clearly the most financially advantageous for Deutsche Bahn AG. DSV and Deutsche Bahn signed the sale and purchase agreement in September 2024. DB also completed the sale of DB Arriva, its European regional and local transport subsidiary, in the summer of 2024.
