Dellner Couplers is now owned by Wabtec

The transaction was finalised on 11 February, expanding Wabtec’s Transit business with couplers and gangways for rolling stock.

Wabtec Corporation has completed the acquisition of Sweden-based Dellner Couplers, adding train connection systems to its passenger rail portfolio.

Dellner Couplers manufactures and services safety-critical train connection systems and has an installed base of approximately 100,000 couplers and 12,500 gangways worldwide. The company operates production, assembly and aftermarket facilities in 13 countries and serves more than 200 customers.

The business employs over 1,200 staff across 17 offices globally and supplies rolling stock manufacturers, operators and independent maintenance providers. Dellner has operated in the sector for more than 80 years, focusing on couplers and gangways for passenger multiple units and trainsets.

Wabtec said the acquisition strengthens its offering in the passenger rail segment by adding complementary technologies in train connection systems to its existing portfolio of equipment, systems and digital solutions for transit and freight markets.
