ÖBB have carried out extra work to provide a home for the storks and to ensure that train services run smoothly.
A good nesting site is crucial for the storks to be able to breed again. Having spent the winter in Perg, the storks have enough energy for an early brood.
Storks love an unobstructed view and a high landing place for their nest, so the mast offers ideal conditions. To preserve the habitat of these protected animals, ÖBB built a special platform high up on this mast. It serves as a base for the nest and protects the surrounding area from contamination. At the same time, it ensures that the radio technology continues to be reliably available.
You can see the picture galleries at http://infrastruktur.oebb.at/stoerche show the life of storks in a way that is unique in Austria.
